The Middle East Municipalities and Town Development Excellence Awards was hosted today

Dubai, UAE- June 10, 2010- Organized by the Middle East Excellence Awards Institute, the Middle East Municipalities and Town Development Excellence Awards was hosted today at the Burj Al Arab Hotel, Dubai, UAE, to honor exceptional municipalities and its officials, who have brought recognition to their respective constituency, community and country through their achievements.

The ceremony began with the welcome message by Mr. Ali Al Kamali, Managing Director, Middle East Excellence Awards Institute. He said, "These awards honor, support and encourage Middle East municipalities to be socially and economically progressive and globally competitive by enhancing service delivery, understanding of municipal processes and maintaining the integrity and confidence of the communities in the evolving system of local and regional governments."

"This award merits exceptional municipalities and its officials who have brought recognition to their respective constituency, community and country through their achievements. It appreciates their commitment and collective contribution in continuously striving to become a globally competitive municipality, with effective governance, values-oriented and empowered citizenry living in a balanced, secured & safe community."

The chief guest for the event, H.E. Saeed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO, DEWA, presented the awards to the winners.
